Commitment

Power Dog is committed to healing injuries in dogs with the optimum treatments available.  Physical Therapy can be an alternative to medications and surgery.  We offer conservative treatment of many injuries, including ACL tears, arthritis, bone fractures, disc injuries, and hip dysplasia.  We can also assist your dog in making a full recovery from surgery and other traumas.

Prolonged lameness can lead to chronic inflammation, which can in turn lead to bigger problems.  A physical therapist has the manual skill to properly mobilize joints and design exercise programs to support and heal the injury.

Post surgery, dogs are often hesitant to bear weight on limbs--at first due to pain.  But this can become habitual and cause ongoing problems.  Strengthening, low-level laser, and craniosacral therapy all help to speed up the healing process.

Power Dog offers an alternative to surgery in many cases of acute injury.  Whether it is a cruciate ligament or a ruptured disc, proper treatment and specifically-designed exercises can allow the dog to heal.  Thus the dog can maintain normal body mechanics and avoid the pain and recovery of surgical procedures.

How long does it take?  The sooner your dog comes to physical therapy, the faster the recovery.  Severe injury, such as a stroke or spinal surgery, may take months, vs. a muscle strain, which may take only a couple of weeks.

Most importantly, you will see your dog feeling better, walking better, and able to do things it has not been able to do for a while.  Dogs really know when something is helping them.  Your dog will love coming to Power Dog for therapy.
